Background
Beginning in 1986 Apple Creative Services participated in the International Design Conference at Aspen. Our efforts exposed many of the world’s top graphic designers—often for the first time—to Macintosh computers.
The project
We created a yearly print piece for Aspen that showcased the latest DTP technologies. I was a member of the design team that tackled and solved the technical problems behind the 1988 project, “New Tools for Designers”. I also wrote the copy and did the photo-manipulations and black-and-white illustrations.
Members of Apple Creative Services also staffed an extensive demo area and taught at least eight one-hour Macintosh classes a day. I planned the class curriculum, schedule, and wrote all the course materials.

“New Tools for Designers” was a set of six postcards, separated by perforations. Each postcard described a different Mac design technology (2D and 3D graphics, photo-manipulation, and multimedia). The brochure itself demonstrated the feasibility of doing color separations in-house on a Linotronic imagesetter. |
